She will star alongside Hunter Schafer (Jules), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Alexa Demie (Maddy), Algee Smith (Chris), Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), Maude Apatow (Lexi), Storm Reid (Gia), Nika King (Leslie), Austin Abrams (Ethan), Colman Domingo (Ali), and Dominic Fike (Elliot). Of course, Zendaya – who won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Euphoria – will return as Rue. She is secretly going through a lot of existential crises.” I can only hope that in Season 3, we'll know what they are.Alexa Demie in Euphoria HBO Which cast members will return – and what about their storylines? Ferreira commented on “Kat’s journey” (or lack thereof) in an interview with The Cut, saying it's “a little more internal and a little mysterious to the audience. (The Ethan breakup scene only fueled the speculation was Ferreira, like fans, disappointed with Kat's scant presence?) Ferreira's absence from the season two premiere in January was noticed, and read into. Rumors circulated that Ferreira fell out with Levinson over the direction the character was heading in, which led to her role being slashed. The Katlessness of Season 2 drew considerable online suspicion. I couldn't help but feel disheartened, too, that the show's lone fat character-in a sea of Barbie and Ken bodies-happened to get short shrift, while endless attention was devoted to Sweeney's prototypically perfect Cassie. Jules's eye makeup on any given night was more thoughtfully considered than this breakup. Sure, Kat is emotionally aloof and teenagers, historically, don't know how to humanely sever ties, but Kat isn't this flatly one-dimensional. The same could be said for the now-infamous diner scene in which Kat dumps Ethan, citing a (fake) terminal brain disorder. It's absurdist and shocking but not nearly enough. Ten points for the HBO metaverse for thrusting Jason Momoa as Game of Thrones warrior Dothraki into said fantasy-he gores Ethan to death and sweeps Kat off her feet. I fucking hate myself,” then fails to go deeper. There was a classically Kat fantasy sequence in which visions of bikini-clad models visit her in her bedroom, commanding her to "Love yourself!" Euphoria scratches the surface in her reply: “But that’s what I’m trying to tell you. She questions why she doesn't love the adoring, functional Ethan-but the depth of her internal struggle is barely explored. Her Season 2 screentime was scarce and, at times, confounding. But just as Kat's story was getting good, it was sidelined. So was the scene that immediately followed in Season 1's Kat-centric Episode 3:Įuphoria's showrunner Sam Levinson introduced Kat's backstory-a tween who binges virgin piña coladas on vacation and is dumped by her first love over her weight gain-early on, priming her for a meaty, central role. (See also: commanding them to fulfill her Amazon wishlist.) In the cinematic canon of slow-mo high school makeover sequences, Rachel Leigh Cook in She's All That can step aside Kat sauntering down the hall in a leather harness over a baby tee, her red lips in a sly smile-all to the growls of DMX's "X 'Gon Give It To Ya"-was a pure triumph. But Kat stood alone as a fat (the word Ferreira uses to describe herself) prolific fanfic author-turned-virtual dominatrix who taps into her power-sexual and otherwise-through shaming men's micropenises via webcam. I'd seen some version of the beautiful-yet-tormented cheerleader (Cassie) or the emotional terrorist quarterback (Jacob Elordi as Nate) before on television. Even in a fictional friend group that includes Rue ( Zendaya) and Jules ( Hunter Schafer), Ferreira/Kat arguably stole Season 1. I have questions chief among them: why?Īs someone who binged both seasons of Euphoria in recent weeks alone, I found Kat singularly captivating. It's a sad, sidekick moment for Kat, and the magnetic Ferreira, who oozes main-character energy and indeed was a main character on this very show-until this season. The last we glimpse of Kat (in a magnificent corset top), she is chasing Maddy ( Alexa Demie), feebly crying "Maddy, no!" as her on-and-off best friend scales the East Highland auditorium steps, preparing to bitch-slap Sydney Sweeney's Cassie as the well-funded production of Our Life devolves into chaos. When Euphoria's second season ended on Sunday night, so did my hope that Kat, the complicated cam girl played by Barbie Ferreira, would finally get a scene worthy of her greatness.

MXGP3 was a passable motocross sim but now that Monster Energy Supercross 2 is out that is undoubtedly the best motocross game on the Switch and probably the best racer overall, it is an impressive port, better than any other that we have received so far. Sadly when it comes to real racing games, racing sims in other words, our selection is quite limited. I happen to think that a few games on there are great, some are just okay, and some are just terrible IMO (such as Mantis Burn which I bought off the praise around here and hated it). What we have here in this article is a real gamer list, it's a list compiled by gamers who apparently have no real interest in cars, bikes, or real driving/riding/racing in general. Naturally I try to play every racing game I can on the Switch and have been searching for the best ones. Forza is probably my favorite video game series, I have put hundreds of hours into the games, and I have always loved Gran Turismo and other sim racers. Wow this is a pretty bad list! I am a huge fan of racing games, and a big car enthusiast so I take this topic very seriously. Today, the Nissan Altima stands toe-to-toe with the other marques, and is the reward for successfully completing Season 9 of The Gauntlet. Race drivers travel 6.213km per lap, and reach average speeds of 178km/h. The track is well known for its vast vertical difference of 174 meters between its highest, and lowest point, and on non-racing days, Mount Panorama is open to the public to drive on. However the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10 was used in the movie Trial by Fire, driven by Walker. Coincidentally, the show ended just as Dodge was getting ready to redesign the Ram again for the 2002 model year. This was not unlike The Andy Griffith Show, which exclusively used Ford vehicles due to a sponsorship deal with Andy Griffith. Other members of the cast often used other Chrysler vehicles, while villains would drive vehicles from General Motors or Ford Motor Company. After Walker used a GMC Sierra during the first season, he switched to the Dodge Ram (which at the start of the second season was completely redesigned for 1994), which would be advertised during commercial breaks. The series was well known during its run for its product placement deal with Chrysler, especially its Dodge division. In season 7, two rookie Texas Rangers, Sydney Cooke ( Nia Peeples), and Francis Gage ( Judson Mills), are assigned under Walker and Trivette's command. Parker ( Gailard Sartain, pilot season Noble Willingham, seasons 1–7), a veteran Ranger (later inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame) who worked with Walker (and is the only character on the show to address Walker by his first name Cordell on a regular basis) until retiring to operate a small restaurant and bar called "CD's Bar and Grill", a restaurant widely known in the series for its chili. Wilson), a Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney, who on occasion puts up a frown if Walker does not obtain results in time. Walker also works closely with (and shares a mutual attraction to) Alexandra "Alex" Cahill ( Sheree J. Trivette also works inside the office using computers and cellular phones to collate information of the people who have been taken into custody. Parker mentored him as a rookie officer). He was dropped from the team after he tore up his shoulder in a major game, which led to his career in the Rangers (often making references to watching the Lone Ranger and how C.D. Walker's young partner grew up in Baltimore and used football as his ticket to college education. His partner and best friend is James "Jimmy" Trivette ( Clarence Gilyard), a former Dallas Cowboys player, "Go Long Trivette", who takes a more modern approach. Both Cordell and Uncle Ray share the values characteristic of Wild West sheriffs. Cordell, prior to joining the Rangers, served in the Marines' elite Recon unit during the Vietnam War. The surname being, possibly, a nod to the 1986 Norris film, Firewalker. Walker was raised by his paternal uncle, an American Indian named Ray Firewalker ( Floyd Red Crow Westerman, pilot episode, season 1 Apesanahkwat, season 2). The show is centered on Sergeant Cordell Walker (Norris), a Dallas–Fort Worth–based member of the Texas Rangers, a state-level bureau of investigation. While Straczynski had to depart to get his new series Babylon 5 on the air, executive producer David Moessinger remained to finish developing the series. Michael Straczynski when the series was still being produced by Cannon Television. The show was initially developed by executive producer Allison Moore and supervising producer J. Martial arts were displayed prominently as the primary tool of law enforcement and occasionally as a tool for Walker and company to reach out to the community. The characters refrained from the use of drugs and participated in community service. The series was noted for its moralistic style. Reruns are currently seen on CBS Action, WGN America, CMT, INSP, getTV, Pluto TV, Heroes & Icons, Grit, 10 Bold, Peacock TV, and being part of Network Ten in Australia. At various times since 1997, reruns of the show have aired, in syndication, on the USA Network and Action in Canada. DVD sets of all seasons have been released (with the three pilots packaged with the first regular season). The film ended on a cliffhanger, which was never resolved. It has been broadcast in over 100 countries and spawned a 2005 television film entitled Trial by Fire. Eight full seasons followed with new episodes airing from September 25, 1993, to May 19, 2001, and reruns continuing on CBS until July 28, 2001. The show aired on CBS in the spring of 1993, with the first season consisting of three pilot episodes. It was inspired by the film Lone Wolf McQuade, with both this series and that film starring Chuck Norris as a member of the Texas Ranger Division. Walker, Texas Ranger is an American action crime television series created by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis. At least the writing can be quite entertaining at times, in a schlocky B-movie way.Īnd then there are mind-boggling failures of logic, like the fact that you can't get into the main Berserker settlement without running a few small errands even if you are accompanied by Caja, a high ranking Berserker Warlord and the mother of your child. "You can go… Go crawl up your own ass, you dipshit!" I spit coffee all over my screen, and I didn't get a sense that this was intended to be so bad it's funny. "Hey! C-can I go now?" says a frightened prisoner on a recording I found in some ruins. They'll spit out one-liners that make me cringe so hard my face hurts. They'll say and do things that don't make any sense. A decent chunk of the dialogue ranges from fine to good, but certain characters often sound like they were written by aliens. While it’s by far the largest, combat is not the only problem here. Why do I need an animation of my character bending down to pick up every single lootable item in the world? Why does every quest need to involve being sent on an errand that will inevitably involve being given another errand by a third party, as if they're just trying to stall for time? Why do I have to convince an overseer to give her workers a raise, run across town to tell them about that raise, then run all the way back to tell the overseer the workers are satisfied? There are so many little bits of archaic design clinging to everything that feel like getting something stuck in your sock if you've played any other modern RPG recently. But many of the ideas Elex 2 seems determined to hold onto are not among them. We live in a world of "Post-Eurojank" RPGs, and yet it seems like Elex’s developer, Piranha Bytes is the one studio in this wheelhouse that still hasn't caught up.ĭon't get me wrong: there are things worth preserving about that era of RPGs. But its next game, GreedFall, was a huge step in the right direction that tightened up hitboxes and attack windows, fixed enemy tuning, and provided more interesting defensive options. The Technomancer, from Spiders, also had abysmal combat. The Witcher 2, as much nostalgia as people have for it, also had a terrible combat system – but CD Projekt Red fixed it up with grace and fluidity for The Witcher 3. The reason this is especially disappointing is that I've seen other studios who make these kinds of hardcore, Euro-style RPGs improve tremendously in recent years without losing the things that make this subgenre unique. I wish it well, but I don’t think I’ll be calling it up for a second date." - Leana Hafer, OctoScore: 4.9 But the frothy mix of joy and frustration that ELEX presents today skews too heavily toward the latter. It has enough good ideas that one day it might be talked about as one of those hidden RPG gems that people play and wonder why it wasn’t successful at launch. The best-case scenario for ELEX is that it’ll be worth picking up on sale a year or two from now after it’s been heavily patched to fix its rampant bugs and infuriating balance problems. The one thing that's been improved from its predecessor’s combat system is that you don't have a lot of encounters where you'll get 360 noscoped by a firing squad offscreen, thus being forced to kite melee troops around a cliff for ages to break their line of sight. I often had to farm money for potions to get through tough encounters, which is a drag. Shields are all but useless until much later on, with some of the early ones only allowing you to take three direct hits instead of two. On top of that, there are too few effective options when you’re getting ganged up on in melee. Much like the original Elex, the scarcity of ammo and mana potions makes it very difficult to go for a pure ranged build – though being able to craft your own ammo helps a bit. Standing your ground usually gets you killed, since even basic enemies are flush with hitpoints and it takes Jax dozens of levels to feel more robust than a wet sheet of paper. I attack, then I stand back and watch the bad guy swing ponderously at the air, then I get to run back in and attack again. This creates an almost turn-based feel, and not in a good way. The poorly-balanced stamina system makes it difficult to smoothly transition between attacking, defending, and maneuvering, even after you upgrade your stamina regeneration much later on. Combat in Elex 2 is not bad because it's too challenging – take that from someone who’s currently loving Elden Ring. Happy learning Xenon Oxytetrafluoride is a colorless inorganic compound. It’s powerful: the lowest setting is similar to the steam offered by most steam mops, the highest setting is much stronger.Ĭarmel absolutely loved using the Polti, even if it is a bit on the pricey side. In our tests, Carmel found that steam took over one minute to heat up and then can stop and start instantly with a press of the trigger. The floorhead is slim to fit under furniture and has a small brush on the back so you can reverse slightly to scrub stains. The cleaner comes with a floor glider and one cleaning pad. These are all great for cleaning, but might be a bit much if you're tight on storage space. It comes with a squeegee with cloth cover for cleaning upholstery, plus concentrator, scraper and two sizes of nylon brush. The body boasts variable steam control and an anti-calc collector. The Polti Vaporetto Smart 100_B has a large 2 litre water tank that feeds the boiler, but you can pop out the tank at any time for a refill without waiting for it to cool down or even disrupting cleaning. Carmel also liked the fact that it can stand up independently when you need to pause cleaning and that you can use detergent as well as just water on tough stains. The steam itself is variable and powerful on the top setting. In our tests, we found this cleaner was ready to use in less than 30 seconds. It worked to great effect and she only needed to switch to the brush a few times. This steam cleaner never let us down during testing in fact, our tester Carmel thought it was so excellent that she found it difficult to step away from it as she envisioned other things in her home she could clean.Ĭarmel used this with the floorhead and carpet glider to clean the tide marks on an old, colourful rug. In a stroke of genius, there’s also onboard storage for six tools on the back of the upright, which is uncommon in cleaners like this. This is a traditional upright steam cleaner with a pop-out handheld in the middle for use with detail tools: squeegee with cloth cover for upholstery, concentrator, scraper and four different brushes. |
